Rare antique tabor or monstrance stand in gold painted wood and red velvet. Beautiful applique of the pelican feeding its young at the front.
19th century.
This is an antique piece that was used so it is not pristine. Please, read the complete description.
The wood has been painted with gold paint over a dark orange paint and white.
The paint from the top part is very worn and has gone in places. The colour is not even anymore.
There is a  crack on the two front corners and one crack going all around but everything still holds firmly.
The moulded decorative parts at the bottom have some damages and parts are missing. The moulded borders at the top and bottom have small cracks.
There are scratches, small chips and small imperfections. The gold has faded in places.
The velvet has some dark stains and marks as seen in the photographs. It is getting thiner in places. There are small holes here and there.
The applique of the pelican feeding its young is in good condition for its age. Some parts are slightly worn. Most sequins all around are there (I can only see 3 or 4 missing).
There is an oval shaped hole at the back. It is hollow inside.
This is a stunning and extremely rare object that will need a bit of care.
Size at the bottom: 50 x 28.7 cm / 19.68 x 11.29 inches
Size at the top: 27.8 x 18.8 cm / 10.94 x 7.40 inches
Total height: approx. 40 cm / 15.74 inches.
It weighs approx. 4.2 kilograms which explains the high shipping fee.

The pictures are part of the description.
