Beautiful small oil painting on canvas depicting Jesus on the cross with the crown of thorns on his head. The painting has a heavy black polished wood frame. No signature or date but likely first half of the 20th century as a devotional piece! 
The black paint has crackled more than the other colors. Being painted on canvas the surface has distorted a little. The paint has the tell-tale texture of oil.
The frame has an inner border with art nouveau style decoration and an outer border which is polished. The inner border has cracks and the outer polish has scratches to the surface. There is a small tag to the back of the frame with handwritten "pour M.Therese Dufouil" indicating it was a gift for one owner.
The painting can be wall-hung immediately
