French antique religious embroidery on velvet in a large oval frame with convex glass.
The words 'Dieu seul' (meaning 'God only') are in the centre. The letters only have outlines. Some threads are broken on three letters and white marks are visible on the velvet (original drawing for the embroidery).
The words are surrounded by embroidered flowers and leaves.
Some imperfections on the velvet background. Colour fade, discolouration and marks visible in the pile.
The black painted wooden frame shows signs of age with marks and imperfections. It is scratched and stained. It has lost its shine in large places. 
Some cracks are visible. The paint is very worn and damaged on some sides.
The glass has dust and marks inside. There are also scratches, imperfections in the glass and small stains.
The gold rim at the front is stained and worn. It has lost its shine.
There is a gap between the glass and the frame visible at the top so it moves slightly.
The back of the frame is completely gone. We can see rusty nails and a bit of card still at the back.
The velvet is stitched to some card. The card is held by nails. 
Two loops (rusty) at the back and a string so it can be hung on the wall.
This is truly a beautiful piece!
