French antique Our Lady of the miracles of Masseret plaster statue.
Notre Dame des miracles church is a pilgrimage place in St Maur des fossés, just outside Paris. The statue of the Virgin Mary in that church has her arms in the exact same, unusual position as the statue I have on sale here. This is the only similarity between the 2 statues.
In 1907, Mr Roume, who was in charge of restauring the statue in St Maur des fossés made a copy for the Masseret church, in Corrèze. That explains the writing on the base: N. D DES MIRACLES  DE MASSERET.
It is signed at the back with initials: R de J.
White glossy paint over plaster. The painting was propbably done at a later date as it is not perfect (some small pieces of dust seem to be trapped under the paint)
There are some chips, stains and imperfections as shown in the photographs. Wear at the back of the head.
