Antique openwork wooden plaque with metal Corpus Christi and small porcelain Holy water font.
Tramp or folk art from the early 20th century.
The light wood cutout shows the cross surrounded by leaves.
Some small breaks, surface wear and chips.
Small insect holes. The insects are long gone and the wood has been treated.
There is a large crack at the bottom going above the receptacle. For the moment everything holds well but this is a fragile piece. The wood is only 0.45 cm thick. Several small cracks.
The wood has discoloured in places. There are white stains and dark ones too. White discolouration on the edges due to long display and exposure to dust.
The metal of the Corpus and INRI sign has tarnished and is worn. The original gold colour is almost completely gone and there are some stains and scratches.
The porcelain font has some black dots that are flaws from the time of manufacturing. Stains and small chips.
No loop to hang on the wall but a small string could be easily placed in the gaps at the top to form one.
The nails of the Corpus and INRI sign are visible at the back and longer than the wood. One nail caused a large crack.
A beautiful and unusual object that would be great for a home altar.
Size: 27.8 x 20.4 cm / 10.62 x 7.87 inches.
It is very light and weighs: 240 grams
