Very finely made ormolu brass box for jewellery, relics, memento mori or even an engagement ring or a pochet watch. This jewelry casket has ormolu brass details and thick beveled solid glass sides. These are clear at the sides. The front panel has a small hand painted photograph of “Peasholme Park, Scarborough”. This park was opened in 1912 which also dates the object for us! The box has a functioning handle, the neat little hook inside and two cushion padded interior sides with some wear.
Metal has some verdigris but looks remarkably clean for something around 100 years old. Condition is exceptionally good. As expected with something this age, the painting has some flaking.
