Antique French plates dating from the early 1800s and produced by P&H Choisy.
P&H stands for Paillart et Hautin who managed the factory between 1824 and 1836.
They all depict Parisian sites or buildings.
Set of 5 sold together:
- 'Place Louis XV'. It was its name from 1772 to 1792 (French Revolution). It is the square where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were executed.
It is now called 'Place de la Concorde'.
- 'Hotel des Invalides' that still exists.
- 'Hotel de la Grande Chancellerie' which is now 'Grande chancellerie de l'ordre de la Légion d'honneur', rue Solférino.
- The Louvre museum
- 'Le jardin du Roi' or 'the king's garden'. Now the 'Jardin des plantes'.
They have all been heavily used and have damages.
Various degrees of crackling, scratches and staining on the five plates as seen on the pictures. One plate is more damaged and stained.
Some scratches are very deep and are brown now. Several small chips.
These are beautiful 'snapshots' of Paris and should be used for decoration only.
Diameter: approx. 21.2 cm / 8.34 inches.
The pictures are part of the description.
Thanks for visiting Cabinet de Merveilles!
