Large antique framed meerschaum under a domed glass.

It depicts the Nativity scene and is very detailed.

The frame is fantasic and quite unusual with the triangle of the eye of God at the top.

There is a large shell for Holy water attached at the bottom.

Late 19th century.

There are some imperfections from age and probably bad storage. Please read the full description.

The meerschaum is actually in good condition with only minor imperfections and slight discolouration in places.

The shell has some small chips and marks inside from use. The nail used to attach it to the frame is rusty and it has stained the shell around it.

The glass has some scratches and small flaws. Traces of brown paint all around.

The frame is stunning but is missing many large pieces as can be seen in the photographs.

There are also cracks visible. It is fragile.

The brown paint has lost its shine because of prolonged exposure to dust.

The paper at the back is completely gone.

Some sort of paste was used to seal the gap between the meerschaum and the frame. That is almost gone so the meerschaum is not completely secure. It doesn't move at the moment but I would recommend adding some paper or a seal before hanging.

Some dust is visible inside as there are gaps at the back.

Loop and string at the back.

This is a stunning piece that requires a bit of care.

Size frame: approx. 41 x 24.2 cm / 16.14 x 9.44 inches

Size meerschaum: 22.5 x 16.3 cm / 8.66 x 6.29 inches

The pictures are part of the description.
