French antique books in Latin.
"Marci Fabii de institutione oratoria libros duodecim ex optimis editionibus et ex fide codicum recensuit F-G Pottier, humaniorum literarum professor in lyceo napoleonensi" (F-G Pottier, a professor of humane literature in the Napoleonic Lyceum, reviewed twelve books from the best editions and from faithful codices on the training of oratory of Marcus Fabius).

Dated 1812. 12 books in 3 volumes. Paris, Bertrand-Pottier.

Received as a first prize in Latin translation by a 14 year old student at the 'Collège Royal de Henri IV' in Paris in 1817. The student was Gustave De Gerando who later became an author and lawyer. His father was also an author. His name is inside the first book with the explanation.
The name of the school is embossed on the covers (both sides).

The leather book covers are very worn and have damages as seen in the photographs.
The interiors are in good condition for their age. There are occasional brown spots but no markings I could see. Occasional fold and several creases but nothing too serious.
Light marks of water on one book at the bottom of some pages.
The books were stored badly and are still a bit dusty. Some marks are left on the first pages and on the edges of the paper blocks.
I have noticed some pages are not cut straight at the bottom (raw edge). I have only noticed two or three.
Size of each book: 10.3 x 17.4 cm / 4.05 x 6.69 inches
Thickness: approx. 2.8 cm / 0.78 inches
