Beautiful crucifix made of ebonized wood and carved animal bone. The arms, unlike most crucifixes are not parallel to the cross beam but at an angle, typical of Jansenist crucifixes of the 1700-1800s. The bone is uncleaned and has discolored naturally. Often these have been overpolished, but as pictures show, the aging allows Christ's body and facial expression to be clearly visible.

There is a piece of bone at the top to represent the INRI inscription and a skull at the bottom.

There is some scuffing to the wood as well as natural discoloration to the figure. Please note, this crucifix is home made and none of the angles are perfect! There is also a big chip missing at the base.

Highly collectable- read up on the Jansenists heresy on Wikipedia.
