Antique hand carved Corpus Christi on black wooden cross.
Jesus is depicted head down with eyes closed.
The Corpus Christi was painted but some colours have faded or are gone. Some fragments of gold or green are visible to the loincloth and the red of His wounds are still visible to the chest and feet. The paint adds texture as seen in the close up photographs.
The sculpture originally had a crown of thorns which has been lost in time. A pin hole is visible where it was attached and the paint is damaged around the head.
The crucifix itself is plain black with a simple stepped pedestal. There is some wear: scratches, colour fade, surface damage, small chips or stains.
The cross can be removed from its base. That's how it will be shipped as it is safer.
