This item is one of many from a very early 20th Century French ladies Garde Robe.
Antique black petticoat. Waistband is plain black cotton. The main fall of the skirt is made of stiff black moiré cotton. The Inside its slightly shiny and smooth. The outside has a metallic effect by varying the polish and is slightly rough to touch. The horizontal matte stripes are black velvet. The waistband and uppermost part is soft black plain weave cotton. The hem is black lace. Pleated throughout so it has lots of volume.
Closure is with two small hooks at the waistband and a fixed drawstring.
The item has been lightly steamed but not laundered.
There are some small (up to 5mm) holes.
