Stunning antique tabernacle in gold painted wood. Damaged, repaired and changed several times it seems!
The door is covered with a painting on fabric depicting the Lamb of God. That wasn't there originally.
The words 'Ecce Agnus Dei' are written on a banner. The paint is flaking.
The material was surrounded by ribbon but that has mostly gone.
The inside is covered with material. 
The gold ribbon border is loose in places. 
Some rust stains. The upholstery nails are not placed in straight lines.
Very large stains on the sides and top.
I think that this material was also added later by a previous owner.
Scratches and marks to the wood as can be seen in the photographs. 
Some small holes from insects that are long gone. 
Some decorative parts at the top (front) are broken. 
An element is probably missing in the middle at the top as there is a small round hole and a square shape (a cross most probably).
Chips in the paint and damaged edges.
Wood broken on the left of the door.
Mechanism to lock but that doesn't work. If there was a key hole at some point it was covered by the painting of the lamb.
Holes through the back to attach on a wall.
A truly beautiful and unusual object !
