Pair of French antique plates depicting the Faydeau theatre and the Fontainebleau palace (home to the French kings just ouside Paris). Very early 1800. The Théatre Faydeau was inaugurated in 1791 and closed in 1829.
One plate has the stamp Montereau which was a French faience maufacture from 1720 and went in business with Creil and Choisy later on. The other plate only has a partial stamp : M and n°5. It stands for Montereau

Scratching, staining and discolouration commensurate with age. One plate has a small chip as seen in the photographs. The other one a large damage. Look carefully at the photographs. Beautiful and rare collection pieces !
