Antique calling card tray from 1867. This would have been purchased as a souvenir of the Grand Tour, and specifically a souvenir of Paris under Napoleon III.
The tray is made of ormolu brass. It features 5 small panels with illustrations of Paris monuments handpainted onto glass. Shown are Pantheon, Arc de Triomphe, St Sulpice, L'église de la Madeleine, and the Palais de l'Exposition Universelle de 1867 (le palais omnibus, which was on the Champ de Mars). The tray has loops to the side to hold. Metal surfaces show some signs of ageing and oxidation. The tray sits flat on small brass feet which have some damage, as shown in the pictures. The underside to the panels is paper which has aged and cracked in places.
