Rare statue of St Gallus with his bear.
Polychrome plaster.

St Gallus was an Irish monk. The legend says that St Gallus was travelling in the woods in Switzerland and tamed a bear that tried to attack him.

Chipped nose and broken fingers. Small crack on the hand but it still holds.
Scratches and small chips or marks commensurate with age.

Early to mid 20th Century.

Height approx. 48.3 cm / 18.89 inches
Size of base: 14 x 13.3 cm / 5.5 x 5.11 inches
