Beautiful St Therese of Lisieux or Little flower statue.
She is depicted with her roses and cross but her pose is different from the statues normally available. Here, she is looking up, the crucifix is straight and she is only holding it with one hand. Roses are coming from her other hand.
"Sainte Therese" written on the base but barely visible.
Signed Ch. Maillard at the back. Charles Maillard was a French sculptor and ceramist. Some of his sculptures were reproduced in large quantities and sold in shops.

Made of hard wax. It has the yellow discolouration of old wax in places but has also become white in other places. It gives a very unusual patina!
Some small scratches, stains and chips. One small hole in a fold of Therese's robe.
There is a small metal plaque inserted under the base with a flower and number.

Height: 30 cm / 11.8 inches
Maximum width approx. 12 cm / 4.72 inches

The pictures are part of the description.
