Plaster statue depicting St Anne ofAuray with Mary, Mother of Jesus, as a child.
Signed Pieraccini. The workshop Pieraccini-Pélissier in Tours, France was bought by the Bacci family in 1937 and still produces religious statues.
St Anne, Jesus' grandmother, appeared in Brittany to a farmer called Yvon Nicolazic and told him in Breton "I am the mother of Mary" on 25th July 1624. On the 7th March 1625, the same farmer discovered a statue of St Anne in his field. That miraculous statue was almost completely destroyed during the Revolution. One small part of the face was recovered and is now in the base of a reproduction in the Basilica in Auray. 
This is a big pilgrimage destination in France so devotional items like this statue have a huge relevance locally.
The base shows the face of the original Miraculous statue.
As shown in the photos there are some chips.
All-over discolouration. It is very stained and the colour is not even.
The gold paint used for the crowns and collars has corroded and is green in places. The brown paint of the base has flaked.
