French antique statue of The little Jesus of Therese. This a satue I had never come across before.
Marked in French on the base: "Le petit Jésus de Thérèse".

Comes from a shop in Paris 'La statue religieuse' as indicated underneath. It was also know as Maison Raffl and was on rue Bonaparte in Paris. It was open from 1857 until the 1920s.

Therese wrote of her arrival in the Carmel of Lisieux: 'The first thing I saw under the cloister was "my little pink Jesus" smiling at me amidst the flowers and lights'.
She says 'my' because she was the one in charge of cleaning the statue and arranging flowers around it.

It has marks, scratches and chips as can be seen in the photographs. The colours are still beautiful.
Height: 20.8 cm / 8.18 inches

The pictures are part of the description.
