French antique Holy water flask from a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. Early 1900s.
This tin canister would have been used to collect holy water from the spring at the grotto.
For decoration. It's beautifully decorated with lithographed pictures of the Lourdes basilica, the grotto and the statue of the Virgin Mary.
Screw top with ND initials (for Notre Dame / Our Lady). It is very rusty so the letters are barely visible. It does open and close though.
Marked 'V. Labarrère - Bordeaux'.
Has some clear signs of use and age which give it a beautiful patina: stains, scratched parts, rust, wear to the lithographs and dents. One side (the grotto image) is dented as seen in the photographs.
It is for decoration only as there is a break at the top (visible in a photograph).
Yellow discolouration.Size without handle and screw top: 18.6 x 17.3 x 11.8 cm or 7.32 x 6.69 x 4.33 inches
