Rare and very unusual French antique Holy prayer card dedicated to donkeys.
It depicts the nativity scene at the top and a donkey at the bottom. A celebration in France called the Feast of the Ass was held during medieval times. It celebrated all of the donkeys and the flight into Egypt. This feast disappeared at the end of the 15th century but this card is a reminder that donkeys have an important part in the Bible.
 
It is very damaged. Pieces are missing, are folded or worn as seen in the photographs.
Stains and discolouration from age and heavy use.
Size is 10.5 x 6.9 cm / 3.93 x 2.36 inches
