French antique evening shoulder cape. Velvet and black beads.
Ruffled chiffon at the collar. That is very loosely stitched to the capelet.
Closes with metal loops and hooks.
They are rusty. Five small loops on one side but only two hooks on the other side.
Some holes in the lining were the missing loops were.
Small imperfections such as hole or stain in the velvet but nothing too serious.
The velvet is a bit worn in small places.
The beads are stitched to a cotton thread / ribbon that is then attached to the velvet. It is not always perfect and the cotton thread is unstitched in small places.
Lining has several small holes but otherwise in good overall condition.
Inside collar is very worn and has tears near the loops and hooks.
Hand stitches visible inside.
A beautiful cape that could easily still be worn today!
Measurements when laid flat:
Total length from neck down the back (not including ruffles): 43.8 cm / 16.92 inches
Inside neck: approx. 38 cm / 14.96 inches
