Large black funeral cape worn by priest as part of the liturgical vestments for a Catholic burial and funeral mass.
The material is a heavy black velvet edged with gold decorated ribbon and gold tassels. The back has a large JHS Christogram (The first three letters of Jesus in Greek). The interior is black/brown cotton fabric. The cape ties across the chest with metal hooks which are original.

This is an antique item and has seen use. The pictures give an accurate description of the condition; some of the tassels have been lost over time; the velvet has the occasional stain and is unstitched in some parts; The gold ribbon has faded or discolored in places; There is some damage to the interior panels. Some green marks on the metal and collar. Some tears.
The vestment has been steamed.
