Beautiful depiction in metal of the thirteenth station of the Way of the Cross: Jesus is taken down from the Cross. It is mounted on a heavy wooden plaque. A Holy water font is attached at the bottom of the plaque.
It is very detailled and we can see many people in this scene: Jesus, Mary, Mary Magdalene, two men on ladders, two Roman centurion and a man holding a ladder.
It was once completely silver painted but the colour has tarnished and is worn or gone in places. Some parts are black. A copper tint is visible underneath in small places. I have cleaned it but didn't polish too much to leave it its patina. There are small white traces in the gaps of the depiction on the wood.
The metal receptacle has been very heavily used and has corroded. The silver paint is gone and the surface is not smooth anymore outside. Lots of white residue and green stains inside. It is screwed to the wood but moves easily. The screws and bolts visible at the back are very rusty.
The wood has some imperfections from age and use: scratches, stains, wear and varnish gone in large places.
There is a metal loop at the back so it can be hung on the wall but the piece is quite heavy (1.086 kilogram).
